What will I be doing?

Under the supervision of the recently appointed Course Superintendent Adam Marchant, the Assistant Course Superintendent directs and participates in the operation, management and maintenance of the 18 hole Championship Course, 9 hole Centenary Course, tennis courts, bowling greens, croquet lawns and horticulture.

The key tasks include:

  • Assisting and collaborating with the Course Superintendent in the planning and management of all works
  • Co-ordinating and directing the maintenance, renovation and reconstruction of all areas of the golf courses, tennis, lawn bowls and croquet and Horticulture
  • Day to day management of all playing surfaces and surrounds
  • Allocating tasks to direct reports to ensure project goals, as set by the Course Superintendent are achieved to a high standard
  • As directed by the Course Superintendent, implementing all major sporting areas and grounds projects according to Course Architect’s, consultant or Committee/management design
  • Ensuring required machinery training is undertaken by all reports before allocation of tasks
  • Preparing and presenting detailed presentations for Committee Meetings
  • Assisting with the development of staff
  • Supervising and training direct reports to ensure duties are carried out safely, to a high standard and in an efficient manner
  • Ensuring record keeping as required is kept up to date
  • Ensuring E-Par EMS and other Sportsturf management programs are followed
  • Potentially serve in the Course Superintendent’s capacity during their absenceThis is a full-time position and weekend work is required as well as during the week.

What does the Club need from me?

  • Certificate IV in Turf Management or higher
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Course Superintendent or Course Superintendent
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
  • Chemcert Certification
  • Irrigation experience (Desirable)
  • Manual drivers licence (Desirable)
