The Organisation:

On Course Golf is a national member based business, which is Australia’s premier support group for PGA Professionals and Golf Clubs. The group has been established for 30 years and has experienced strong growth in recent years. We provide members with professional services and internal marketing assistance for their Pro shops. Our business arranges group buying arrangements with selected golf supply companies to enhance our members profitability from their retail operations. Through our national exposure, On Course Golf conducts industry wide sales promotions in partnership with the leading golf supply companies.

The Role

This exciting leadership role is across the total performance of the business – it’s responsible for all day to day management decisions. You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the organization’s long term strategy and short term plans to maximize member value. The role reports to the Chairman and is based in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of the group strategy.
  • Apply strong financial and commercial acumen to business negotiations to maximise financial returns.
  • Full P&L bottom line responsibility. Monitor the financial performance of the business through revenue protection, cost control and cash management. Analyse financials and prepare Board papers.
  • Ensure compliance and governance within all statutory and legal requirements of the business.
  • Maintain and grow strategic partnerships.
  • Develop commercial and membership growth strategies.
  • Refined negotiating skills to deliver the best outcome from commercial contracts.
  • Provide strong, direct liaison between the Board and Management. Maintain transparent lines of communication.
  • Keep abreast of organizational activities and material external factors affecting the organization.
  • Maintain world’s best practices to engage and improve on member satisfaction levels
  • Manage an experienced small team at head office – monitor, mentor and manage staff performance.
  • Communicate and present on behalf of the organization to all members, employees, stakeholders, Government authorities and the general public.

Skills & Experience required

  • Financial and commercial acumen.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to act as ‘figurehead’ for the organization.
  • It is envisaged that suitable applicants will have University qualifications in commerce / business / marketing.
  • Golf industry knowledge desirable.
