Hastings Golf Golf Club is a prestigious 18 Hole course in Hawke’s Bay. It was established in 1912, has over 1,100 members and approx. 45,000 rounds per year.
The club is considered the premier club course in the region and regularly hosts Golf New Zealand tournaments and an annual pro-am.
We have recently had the position of Course Superintendent become available. This is a full-time permanent salaried position.
This new person would need to have a recognised NZ Turf Qualification such as Level 4 in Turf Management, a current NZ based spraying certificate(s), at least 10 plus years’ experience on a golf course with fairway irrigation and presenting a golf course to highest standards.
We have a course maintenance team of 5.5 full time staff (including the Course Superintendent). The ability to prioritise and organise workload, problem solve, a willingness to be involved in all aspects of course maintenance, with good practical skills, top quality communication, a sense of humour, along with a clean driver’s licence is a must for this position. Proven history of managing & leading staff and volunteers is also essential.
The club is three years into a five-year irrigation replacement programme and is also looking to the future by assessing course improvements to ensure we remain a destination course. This could also include bunker refurbishments and a potential implementation of course redevelopment in our future, which could include the construction of new golf holes. The new Course Superintendent will play a major role in all of this. Experience in irrigation and/or construction would be desirable.
