Website The Grange Golf Club

The Grange Golf Club, Kembla Grange

Set among the natural surrounds of Kembla Grange, The Grange Golf Club is home to an established 18-hole course maintained with care, precision and pride.

As we continue to invest in our course and facilities, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Greenkeeper to join our Course Maintenance team and begin a rewarding career in sports turf management.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time apprenticeship combining practical, hands-on experience with formal study towards a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management through TAFE NSW at Yallah.

Working alongside our Course Superintendent and experienced greenkeeping team, you’ll learn all aspects of modern golf course maintenance while developing the skills and knowledge needed to build a long-term career in the industry.

What You’ll Learn and Do

You’ll gain practical experience in:

  • Golf course presentation and daily course setup
  • Turf and plant health management
  • Preparing the course for competitions and tournaments
  • Irrigation and water management
  • Machinery operation and basic maintenance
  • Turf renovation and course improvement projects
  • Safe chemical handling and application
  • Workplace health and safety

You’ll be supported throughout your apprenticeship by experienced turf professionals who take pride in the course they maintain—and in helping the next generation learn the trade.

About You

We’re looking for someone with the right attitude and a genuine interest in developing a career in sports turf management.

You’ll ideally be:

  • Reliable, punctual and motivated
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Physically fit and willing to undertake hands-on work
  • Detail-oriented, with pride in a job well done
  • A positive team member with good communication skills
  • Eager to learn and open to feedback
  • Able to commit to the training requirements of an apprenticeship
  • In possession of a valid driver’s licence or reliable transport

Experience in gardening, landscaping, machinery, sports turf or golf would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. Attitude, commitment and reliability matter most.

Why Join The Grange?

  • A structured, full-time apprenticeship
  • A nationally recognised qualification
  • Training and study support
  • Direct mentoring from experienced turf professionals
  • Apprentice rates in line with the relevant award
  • Applicable overtime and penalty rates
  • Uniforms, boots and personal protective equipment supplied
  • Half-price golf membership at The Grange
  • Opportunities for continued learning and career development
  • A supportive team culture where respect, accountability and pride are valued

Work Hours and Roster

This is a full-time, 38-hour-per-week position. The typical roster is:

  • Monday: 5:30am–2:00pm
  • Tuesday to Friday: 5:30am–1:30pm

Start and finish times may vary with daylight saving and operational requirements. Weekend work and overtime may also be available during tournaments, course renovations and peak periods.
