About the role:

Located in a beautiful location in the Canterbury region, the stunning Fable Terrace Downs Resort by MGallery is looking for a Golf Assistant to help deliver on day-to-day operations of the Golf Shop.

If you have an interest in golf and would enjoy working outdoors in New Zealand’s premier destination golf course, then this role is for you! You will need to be fit, reliable and be able to work as part of a team.

As a Golf Assistant, you will be responsible for coordinating all golf activities, maintaining cleanliness of all golf facilities, as well as providing exceptional guest service to golfers on the course.

This is a full-time role, with work during weekend and public holidays as required. Due to the remote location of the Resort, you will preferably have your own transport.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist with all Golf shop opening and closing procedures
• Assist with tournament operations including weekly events
• Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments
• Work with the course manager and other team members to maintain and constantly improve the golf course, club grounds and practice facility
• Assisting with the setup of the golf course for competition rounds and general play
• From time to time might be required to assist with pro shop operations, assist in the maintenance of golf carts, rental clubs, and golf range balls including cleaning.

• Perform any other duties within the employee’s range of competence as required by management.

Skills and Requirements:

• A passion for sport and an interest in golf
• Golf experience preferable but training is available
• Willingness to learn and be trained on the job
• Excellent communication and retail/customer service skills
• Knowledge of golf industry trends and best practices
• Computer literate – Ability to use golf management software and technology is advantageous. (DotGolf & Lightspeed)
• Current eligibility to work in New Zealand
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts full-time including weekends and public holidays
• Punctual, organised and trustworthy
• Ability to work well autonomously as well as part of a team
• Professional appearance and physically fit
