• Golf Course Superintendent Little Para Golf Course

• Salary Range $75,000 – $85,000 commensurate with skills and experience, plus Super, Leave and Training Support.

We’re looking for a practical, hands-on Golf Course Superintendent to look after the course and grounds at Little Para. This role is perfect for a current fully-qualified to step up, foreman looking for more experience or superintendent looking to slow down and enjoy an environment that values experience and will never have a Greens Committee to report to.

Little Para Golf Course is a public-access 9-hole Par 3 facility at 62 Martins Road, Paralowie (City of Salisbury), operated by GreenSpace Management.

It sits in the Little Para Linear Park landscape, winding among mature River Red Gums beside the river. The course is designed for fun and accessibility — grass tees feeding into large, target-oriented bent-grass greens — and suits beginners, social players and more experienced golfers alike. It is regularly described as one of the best Par 3 courses in Australia. Open seven days, it runs on a simple “walk in, play on” basis with online bookings available.

Key facilities

• 9-hole Par 3 course – Approximately 1,043 m, par 27. Santa ana tees and bent-grass greens.
• Trackman Range – Full-length (230 m) driving range with 18 hitting bays (eight undercover). Features market-leading Trackman technology for accurate ball data, virtual courses, games and structured practice. Synthetic and grass tees plus short-to-long bunker practice areas.
• SHANX Mini Golf @ Little Para – Opened September 2024. A miniaturised traditional golf-style course (not amusement-park style) using premium European turf, with high and low terrain designed for fun and frequent hole-in-ones. Located between the Par 3 and the range.

Recent and upcoming works

The course has recently received an upgraded irrigation system and pump. A dedicated grassing program has been carried out on the tees. Hydroseeding works are scheduled for the driving-range outfield.

Little Para functions as a busy community golf hub that combines traditional play, high-tech practice and family-friendly mini golf in a natural setting.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day care of the golf course, supporting grounds, driving range and SHANX Mini Golf. This includes planning and running maintenance programs, looking after irrigation, supervising staff and volunteers, and keeping the place safe and presentable for players.

There’s a clear focus on doing the job well, improving things over time, and looking after the environment.

What the role involves

• Direct the care and maintenance of turf, plants, trees and all course areas (greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers)
• Help plan and carry out maintenance programs
• Manage the irrigation system, including preventative maintenance, programming and the lake re-circulation system
• Supervise and train grounds staff and volunteers in the safe use of equipment
• Oversee fertiliser and pesticide applications and keep accurate records
• Maintain the driving range outfield, practice areas and SHANX Mini Golf course
• Look after health and safety for staff, volunteers and players on course
• Keep the Facility Manager informed of works that will affect play or may draw questions
• Contribute to budgets, monthly reports, water policy and continuous improvement
• Be available on weekends or public holidays when needed (for example during extreme weather or irrigation faults)

You’ll report to the Facility Manager and work closely with other GreenSpace team members.

What you’ll need

• Trade certificate or Diploma in Turf Management, or at least three years’ current experience in the turf industry
• Current National Police Check, driver’s licence and Working with Children Check
• Solid skills with Microsoft Office and any relevant industry software
• Ability to lead a small team, communicate clearly, stay organised with paperwork and schedules, and work safely

This is a full-time role under the Amusement, Recreation & Events Award 2020.
