Horticulturist – The Victoria Golf Club

The Victoria Golf Club, one of the premier clubs positioned on Melbourne’s famed Sandbelt, is looking to employ a Qualified Horticulturist. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a mix of technical horticultural expertise, leadership potential, and professional personal qualities to assist in the management and enhancement of the Club’s landscaped gardens, native vegetation areas, and surrounding course environment.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual who has completed a Certificate III in Horticulture (or an equivalent qualification) and is willing to pursue further professional development. The ideal candidate will have experience in ornamental and native plant care, landscape and garden maintenance, weed management, and environmental best practice, along with knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) and Environmental Procedures.

The primary focus of the role is the maintenance and enhancement of the Club’s landscaped areas, and native vegetation. The successful applicant will also be required to assist with general golf course maintenance and greenkeeping duties as required, working closely with the Course Maintenance team to ensure the presentation of the Club remains of the highest standard.

Key Requirements

  • Certificate III in Horticulture (minimum requirement) or equivalent qualification
  • Willingness to undertake further professional development
  • Sound knowledge of horticultural practices, plant identification, pruning, irrigation, mulching, and soil health
  • Experience in native vegetation management, weed identification and control
  • Understanding of WH&S and Environmental Procedures
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead small groups
  • Willingness to undertake general greenkeeping and golf course maintenance duties when required
  • Current Victorian driver’s license (desirable)

This is a full-time position. Availability for rostered work on weekends and public holidays may be required.
