POSITION PURPOSE
The Golf Shop & Service Attendant plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of Bingara Gorge Golf Course. The position combines front-of-house golf shop responsibilities with practical golf operations duties to ensure members, residents, guests and visitors enjoy a welcoming, professional and safe golfing environment.
The role contributes to retail sales, golf bookings, course presentation, competition operations, golf cart management and customer engagement while supporting Golf NSW’s vision of providing an inclusive and community-focused golf facility.
Your employment will be governed by an Employment Agreement and the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020 (MA000080), together with the National Employment Standards contained in the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Where there is any inconsistency, the Award and legislation will prevail.
Your appointment will be on a permanent part‑time basis, reporting to the General Manager Facilities (or nominee). Your primary place of work will be Bingara Gorge Golf Course, or that as reasonably required by Golf NSW.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service & Experience
- Provide friendly, professional and welcoming service to residents and visitors.
- Respond to customer enquiries regarding golf bookings, competitions, lessons, events and facility information.
- Assist customers with check-in procedures and course information.
- Support participation growth by promoting competitions, clinics, participation programs, junior activities and social offerings.
- Resolve routine customer concerns and refer complex issues to supervisors where required.
Golf Shop Operations
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and booking platforms accurately.
- Process green fee, competition, cart hire and retail transactions.
- Maintain accurate daily cash handling procedures.
- Assist with merchandising, stock presentation and retail displays.
- Replenish merchandise and maintain a professional golf shop environment.
- Assist with stock counts and inventory management as required.
- Promote retail products, memberships, resident programs and golf services.
Golf Operations Support
- Assist with daily competition and tee sheet operations.
- Support starters and marshals during busy periods.
- Monitor pace of play and assist golfers with operational enquiries.
- Assist with setup and pack down of events, competitions and corporate golf days.
- Support operational activities as directed by supervisors.
Golf Cart Fleet Management
- Prepare golf carts for daily play.
- Clean, wash, charge and store golf carts.
- Manage cart allocation and collection throughout the day.
- Report faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain presentation standards within the cart storage and charging areas.
Facility Presentation
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards within the golf shop and customer areas.
- Assist with presentation of practice facilities, pathways and surrounding grounds.
- Ensure customer areas remain safe, tidy and welcoming.
- Support daily opening and closing procedures.
Workplace Health & Safety
- Comply with all Golf NSW policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses and maintenance issues immediately.
- Follow safe work practices and operational procedures.
- Support a culture of safety, professionalism and accountability.
- Comply with child safeguarding requirements and codes of conduct.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work weekends, public holidays and flexible rostered hours.
- Sound verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Reliable, punctual and professional presentation.
- Basic computer and POS system skills.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to undertake manual handling associated with golf operations.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a golf facility, sports venue, retail or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of Lightspeed and Golf Genius.
- Working with Children Check.
- Golf knowledge and understanding of golf operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The role includes:
- Standing for extended periods.
- Lifting and moving golf equipment and stock.
- Working both indoors and outdoors.
- Early morning, evening and weekend work.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
