About the Role

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, administration and commercial performance of Proserpine Golf Club.

This role is ideally suited to a highly organised and financially focused manager who can lead the business operations of the club while working collaboratively with staff, members, volunteers and key stakeholders.

The General Manager will oversee financial management, administration, membership services, marketing, governance, compliance and business development initiatives, ensuring the club remains financially sustainable and positioned for future growth.

While the role has a strong focus on finance and administration, a sound understanding of golf club operations is essential. The successful applicant will work closely with the Golf Operations Team to support golf programs, member services, competitions, events and the overall golfing experience.

This is a hands-on leadership position where visibility, communication and relationship-building are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance
  • Lead and develop a positive, professional and member-focused workplace culture
  • Implement and monitor the club’s strategic plan
  • Work collaboratively with the Board to achieve operational and financial objectives
  • Prepare Board reports, recommendations and business cases
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, governance and regulatory requirements
  • Manage risk and maintain appropriate policies, procedures and operational standards
Financial Management & Administration
  • Lead all financial operations of the club
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow reporting
  • Monitor financial performance and provide accurate reporting to the Board
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions
  • Coordinate annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ensure strong financial controls and accountability across all areas of the club
  • Develop business cases and financial analysis for future projects and capital works
Membership & Customer Experience
  • Drive membership growth, retention and engagement initiatives
  • Membership administration and communication
  • Develop programs and initiatives that enhance member satisfaction and participation
  • Build strong relationships with members, guests and visitors
  • Ensure high standards of customer service throughout the club
Marketing, Sponsorship & Business Development
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies that increase awareness, visitation and membership growth
  • Enhance the club’s digital presence through social media, website content and member communications
  • Grow sponsorship opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships
  • Promote golf events, functions, competitions and club initiatives
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities that align with the club’s strategic direction
Golf Operations Support
  • Work closely with the Golf Operations Team to support the delivery of golf services
  • Assist with the planning, promotion and execution of golf events and competitions
  • Collaborate with PGA Professionals to enhance participation, coaching programs and visitor experiences
  • Support initiatives that improve the overall golf experience for members and guests
  • Assist in developing programs that encourage participation and engagement across all levels of golf
Facilities & Club Operations
  • Clubhouse administration and operational requirements
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers and service providers
  • Support facility improvement projects and capital works planning
  • Ensure the club presents to a high standard for members and visitors
  • Work collaboratively with course maintenance staff regarding operational requirements and future development projects

About You

You are a commercially minded leader who understands that strong financial management is the foundation of a successful golf club. You are equally comfortable analysing financial reports, engaging with members, supporting staff, and contributing to the long-term success of the organisation.

A strong understanding of golf club operations, golf administration and member-based club environments is essential. The successful applicant must appreciate the unique nature of golf clubs and be capable of working closely with the Golf Operations Team to support the delivery of an outstanding golfing experience.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership and people management experience
  • Strong financial management, budgeting and reporting skills
  • Experience in business administration, hospitality, club management or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of golf club operations and the golf industry
  • Understanding of golf competitions, handicapping, memberships and club governance
  • Experience working within a member-based sporting club environment
  • Marketing, sponsorship and business development experience
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Sound understanding of governance and compliance requirements
  • A hands-on, professional and collaborative leadership style
  • RSA certification (or ability to obtain)

Work Structure & Remuneration

This is a full-time position based at Proserpine Golf Club.

The successful applicant will receive a remuneration package of up to $120,000 inclusive of superannuation, dependent on experience and qualifications.
