About Us:

Located in the heart of the beautiful Barossa Valley, Tanunda Pines Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course open to members, guests, and visitors year-round. Surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, and native landscapes, the club is currently undergoing ongoing course improvements and infrastructure upgrades focused on delivering high-quality playing conditions and an exceptional golfing experience.

We are seeking a motivated and reliable  Greenkeeper to join our turf maintenance team.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is passionate about turf management, takes pride in presentation standards, and enjoys working outdoors as part of a team environment.

Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent, the successful applicant will assist in all aspects of golf course preparation, maintenance, and improvement works across the property.

This role may include early morning starts, weekend work on a roster basis, and occasional public holiday work depending on operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Course Maintenance & Presentation.
  • Daily preparation of the golf course to presentation standards.
  • Mowing of greens, tees, fairways, surrounds, and rough areas.
  • Changing holes and moving tee markers.
  • Bunker maintenance including raking, edging, and repair work.
  • Course setup for competitions and club events.
  • Garden and landscape maintenance around clubhouse surrounds and course areas.

Turf & Agronomic Practices

  • Fertiliser and chemical applications in line with industry standards.
  • Monitoring turf health and reporting disease, weeds, or irrigation concerns.
  • Assisting with turf renovation programs including coring, topdressing, overseeding, and aeration.
  • Irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Hand watering and moisture management when required.

Machinery & Equipment

  • Safe operation of turf machinery and equipment.
  • Daily machinery checks and basic maintenance.
  • Cleaning and care of equipment and maintenance facilities.
  • Reporting mechanical issues promptly.

Course Improvement Projects

The successful applicant will also assist with ongoing improvement works around the golf course, including:

  • Irrigation upgrades.
  • Turf recovery programs.
  • Drainage and landscaping projects.
  • Tree management and course presentation improvements.
  • New development and construction projects where required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management preferred; however, applicants with extensive industry experience and a strong work history in golf course or turf maintenance are encouraged to apply.
  • Sound understanding of turf management practices.
  • Experience operating turf machinery safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation standards.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and motivated attitude.
  • Current driver’s licence.
