Bar Manager

Nelson Bay Golf Club | Full-Time

Nelson Bay Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Bar Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy bar and gaming facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality professional who is passionate about service excellence, compliance, and team development.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Bar Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operation of the Club’s bar, ensuring consistently high standards of service for our members and guests, responsible liquor and gaming operations, strong cost control, and profitable promotions—while building and leading a skilled, engaged team.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily bar operations including opening/closing, cash handling, POS accuracy, and banking
• Oversee stock forecasting, ordering, rotation, and monthly stock-take
• Set and enforce service standards and professionally resolve customer issues
• Recruit, induct, train, and coach bar staff across service standards, RSA/RSG, SOPs, hygiene, POS, and cash handling
• Plan and deliver profitable beverage promotions and monitor performance outcomes
• Ensure full compliance with liquor licensing, gaming, RSA/RSG, WHS, and cash-handling requirements
• Provide operational oversight of functions and events
• Manage gaming services including poker machines, Keno, and TAB facilities
• Deliver approved standards of hospitality for members and visitors at all times

Key Performance Indicators

• Beverage gross profit and COGS in line with budget
• Stock variance maintained at or below 1.0% per month
• Labor-to-sales ratio within approved targets
• Service standards meeting member satisfaction benchmarks
• 100% completion of mandatory training requirements

About You

You will bring:

• Proven experience in bar or hospitality management (club or hotel experience highly regarded)
• Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills
• Sound knowledge of POS systems, stock control, and inventory management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage conflict professionally and lead by example

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RSA and RCG (NSW) – essential
• Food Safety and First Aid certification – desirable
