Heritage Golf & Country Club is the host of the PGA Professional Championship National Final and PGA Tour of Australasia event, The Heritage Classic. It is one of Australia’s premier golf facilities, boasting two championship golf courses: St. John and Henley, both ranked in the Golf Digest Top 100, along with a 300m double-ended range, short game area, large practice putting green, and indoor simulators.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated PGA Professional to lead and grow all aspects of golf operations, member engagement, coaching and professional services. Your role is not to be behind the counter, this is a highly visible leadership position suited to a PGA Professional who enjoys working closely with members, identifying revenue opportunities through golf professional services and creating exceptional golf experiences across all segments of the Club.
Your Role – Lead, Engage and Grow
Reporting: General Manager (PGA Professional) This is a full-time employed role, with coaching forming a portion of the role within employed hours. The Golf Professional will deliver outstanding member experiences while supporting the strategic growth and development of golf operations.
This role extends beyond the golf shop and requires a proactive professional capable of building strong relationships, driving membership retention and growth strategies, developing engagement and services programs, and contributing to the Club’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Programs & Participation
- Provide individual golf coaching services.
- Design, implement, and oversee a structured Junior Development Pathway Program.
- Develop and implement Girls Scholarship Programs to encourage greater female participation in golf.
- Identify and implement new participation initiatives aligned with club objectives.
Member Experience & Engagement
- Conduct new member inductions.
- Engage with member enquiries.
- Actively participate and play golf regularly with members to strengthen relationships and enhance the member experience.
- Design and implement a comprehensive member engagement program, including:

- Rules education evenings
- Twilight season golf events
- VIP retail events
- Beat the Pro competitions
- Identify members at risk of leaving the Club and implement targeted retention strategies.
- Support the Club’s representative teams.
Professional Services
- Provide professional club fitting services.
- Coordinate and facilitate supplier fitting and demonstration days.
- Provide golf club repair and equipment maintenance services.
- Drive hardware and equipment sales through professional recommendations and member service.
Golf Operations & Club Leadership
- Assist in the strategic planning and development of golf operations.
- Manage Miclub integration, golf timesheet and competition setup, Golf Connect.
- Mentor and supervise PGA Associate staff.
- Attend and contribute to Match Committee meetings.
- Work collaboratively with management to improve operational efficiencies and member satisfaction.
- Participate in industry education, professional development, and off-site club initiatives, implementing relevant learnings within the Club.
- Support the development and implementation of golf operation strategies that align with the Club’s broader objectives.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured through a combination of participation, membership, commercial, and engagement outcomes.
Key Performance Indicators will include:
- Number of individual coaching lessons delivered.
- Junior and women’s membership growth.
- New member acquisition.
- Membership retention outcomes.
- Hardware and equipment sales performance.
- Number of supplier fitting and demonstration days conducted.
- Number of member engagement events delivered.
- Number of rounds played with members.
- Member satisfaction and engagement measures.
- Additional mutually agreed performance objectives.
About You
The successful candidate will be a PGA Professional who enjoys being the face of golf services and building relationships. Many parts of the role will require autonomy and independence, therefore, self-starting, motivation, time management, accountability, and proactive communication skills are essential. The primary focus should be creating exceptional experiences for members.
You will possess:
- Current PGA of Australia Membership.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to increase membership engagement.
- Experience in club fitting and golf equipment services.
- A willingness to play golf with the members.
- A proactive, member-focused approach.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Right to work in Australia.
