Our Golf Operations team plays an important role in delivering that experience, encompassing golf administration, competitions and events, retail, outside services and the day-to-day presentation and operation of our golf facilities.
About the role
The National Golf Club is seeking a full-time Golf Operations Assistant to join the Golf Operations team. Reporting to the Golf Operations Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with a genuine interest in golf, strong customer service skills and a willingness to contribute across all areas of the golf operation. The role will be based primarily at Cape Schanck, with occasional work required at the Long Island site. This role will require regular weekend and public holiday work as part of the normal roster. As the retail operation continues to grow, support is needed for the Retail Manager with day-to-day retail operations, merchandise presentation, stock management and providing members and guests with a high-quality retail experience. The successful applicant will also assist the Outside Services team and undertake course marshalling duties when required, making flexibility and a willingness to work across different areas of the operation important to the role.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with the management of tee time reservations and daily golf bookings
- Assisting with the preparation and delivery of Club competitions, events and golf activities
- Providing exceptional customer service to members and their guests
- Supporting the Retail Manager with the day-to-day operation of the Golf Shop
- Assisting with inventory management, stock presentation and merchandising
- Providing knowledgeable assistance to members and guests when purchasing golf equipment, apparel and merchandise
- Assisting the Outside Services team with the delivery of member and guest services when required
- Undertaking course marshalling duties to assist with pace of play and the overall member experience
- Maintaining the presentation and appearance of the Golf Shop and Golf Operations areas
- Responding to member and guest enquiries in a professional and timely manner
About you
- A sound knowledge of golf and a genuine interest in the game
- An interest in, or previous experience with, retail, ideally within golf, sporting goods, apparel or a similar customer-focused environment
- A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with members, guests and colleagues
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to show initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A flexible and hands-on approach, with a willingness to assist across Golf Operations, Retail and Outside Services
- A sound understanding of workplace health and safety standards
- Full working rights in Australia
