Working alongside our Organic Market Gardener, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in an established organic market garden while building practical skills and technical knowledge of organic horticulture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the industry, with exposure to all aspects of small-scale organic food production, from planning and planting through to harvesting and maintenance.
Working in collaboration with Millbrook’s chefs, the Market Garden helps provide seasonal organic produce for our restaurants while contributing to the unique five-star guest experience we are known for.
What will your day look like?
- Assisting with the preparation, planting, cultivation and harvesting of seasonal organic produce
- Supporting the ongoing maintenance and development of the Market Garden, orchard and surrounding growing areas
- Learning and applying organic horticulture practices, including soil management, pest management and sustainable growing techniques
- Assisting with produce delivery, record keeping and general operational tasks within the garden
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, health and safety, and environmental sustainability
- Working closely with the Organic Market Gardener and wider resort teams to support the success of the Market Garden operation

- You have a genuine passion for organic horticulture and are committed to developing a career in the industry
- Previous practical experience in horticulture, home gardening or orchard maintenance would be advantageous
- You have a strong interest in environmental sustainability and organic growing practices
- You are eager to learn new skills, take direction and continually develop your knowledge
- You are a confident communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
- You can work independently using your initiative while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- You have strong problem-solving and time management skills
- You are physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties
- A relevant horticulture qualification is advantageous
- A valid NZ work visa is required
- Full clean NZ Drivers Licence desirable.
Location: Arrowtown, Queenstown
Payrate: $27.00 – $30.00 gross per hour based on experience
Hours: Full time permanent (30/40 hours per week guaranteed including over the winter period)
