Russley Golf Club – General Manager (CEO) – Christchurch, New Zealand

About the role

Reporting directly to the Chair and Board, you will lead a team of approximately 20-30 staff and contractors across all aspects of the Club and be responsible for delivering strategic priorities across assets, financial sustainability, member and guest experience, people and culture, partnerships and commercial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Club’s 2026-2028 Strategic Plan
• Build an engaged, accountable and high-performing team and culture across the Club
• Enhance member and guest experience, engagement and retention
• Grow membership, sponsorship, green fees and commercial revenues, including café, bar and functions
• Strengthen financial performance and long-term sustainability

About you

• Significant experience in senior management, executive leadership or a senior commercial role
• Proven track record of growing revenues and managing costs in a competitive environment
• Strong financial capability including budgeting, margin analysis, project analysis, reporting, balance sheet management and cash-flow oversight
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and deliver results
• Experience working with and reporting to a Board
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Confident using technology, data and emerging tools, including AI, to support effective management and continuous improvement
• Golf industry experience is welcome but not essential. We encourage applications from strong leaders in hospitality, sport, membership organisations and other customer-focused businesses

Remuneration

A competitive remuneration package comprising a $130,000 base salary plus an annual performance bonus of up to $40,000, rewarding achievement of strategic, operational and financial targets, including outperformance against the Club’s budgeted EBITDA. The overall remuneration package is negotiable.
